The album entitled Józef Chełmoński presents the most important works of one of the most outstanding representatives of Polish realistic painting. The artist worked in Warsaw, Munich, and Paris, and his numerous trips to Ukraine, Podolia, Volhynia, and Lithuania resulted in excellent paintings that are valued all over the world. As an excellent, even penetrating observer of nature, he focused primarily on his native landscape in his paintings: he painted scenes from rural life, melancholic views of nature: fields, wetlands, floodplains, birds; but also markets, fairs, and horse-drawn carriages. All of this is presented in its entirety in this album, enriched with interesting archival photographs and an engaging text summarizing Józef Chełmoński’s work by Dr. Stefania Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska. The album is available in Polish and English.
